RICH AND POOR
by Muffin-M'randa Jones

There are different kinds of poor. There are the poor people who are poor because they have no money in their pockets and there are the poor who have nothing in their heads. Just as there are poor people, there are also rich people. Some are rich with money, others are rich with life.

The way I see life is: I am a rich person living in a poor neighbourhood. The only problem is the people in my neighbourhood have it backward, they think they are rich and I am poor. See these people, in my neighbourhood, they have a lot of money, but inside their heads there is nothing. They are the ones who are truly poor.

I don't have a lot of money in my pocket, but I have a story in my head for everything and a face and a voice and a song and a dance for every part of every story.

You would think I would be okay here, rich person in a rich neighbourhood. But that's not how it is, to me the people around here are materialistic and empty inside. To these people I am an over imaginative kid with no money.

No matter what I do, these people don't get it. They see me when they walk down the street, I am doing what I do best: living. They walk past and do what they do best: nothing. Then they look at me like I'm not right, like there is something wrong with me.

Sometimes I try to talk to these people, but when I do it doesn't work. They turn away, or look at me like I'm trash. This is cause these people's minds are poor and they don't know about being friendly. They are uneducated in the ways of life. They don't know how to live.

So they drive their big exotic foreign cars home to their large state of the art garages beside their even larger immaculately maid-cleaned homes.
